Have you ever played a brainstorming game where you had to come up with uses for some common object? That's the first topic this week.
If you've ever had a brainstorming session where people sat around hesitating to contribute, you can understand how important the right frame of mind is. You need the members of the group to feel free to throw their ideas out there no matter how crazy they may seem. You also need them to be open to new ideas and thinking creatively. Here's a little warm up exercise that will help.
A Brainstorming Exercise
Before you formally start the brainstorming session, and start addressing the problems and projects you need new ideas for, do the following exercise. You may have...

- Volcanic activity killed more than 25,000 people between 1980 and 1990.
- Some scientists now believe that humans were first infected with HIV in the 1930s.
- There is some evidence that just thinking about exercising can increase muscle mass.
Three things I like about Binaural Beats Brain Wave Entrainment CDs:
1. They are affordable (I like my $169 ones too, but these are less than a fourth of that).
2. They have a decent selection (They're not all just relaxation CDs).
3. They describe each CD in detail (including the frequencies used).
4. They offer free shipping (most of the time).
5. They guarantee their products. (This is always important to
me.)

To be a better problem solver, start with these three simple steps:
1. Learn some good problem solving techniques and approaches. The more of these you know, the better problem solver you can be.
2. Practice using the techniques repeatedly, until they become habit. This is the "programming" of your mind, and it assures the power of your subconscious will be there to help you.
3. Let many ideas to flow forth. Discard ideas later, or make them into something useful, but you have to have

You are lost in a land of the honest and dishonest. The honest men can only tell the truth, and the dishonest can only lie. You need to ask for directions, so you approach a group of three men and ask if they are honest. The first man says, "Two of us are honest," and the second man says, "Actually only one of us is honest." The third man says, "That last man who spoke is honest." How many of the men - and which ones - are honest?

Get enough magnesium. Magnesium is found in nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy green vegetables. It protects the brain from neurotoxins. Some doctors are now giving extra magnesium to brain surgery patients.
Dreaming up new ideas is easy if you know the right techniques. The following are six I came up with while watching the snow fall outside the window, followed by a few suggestions for creating new ideas.
1. Power naps reduce stress and increase productivity. But if you work in a busy office or busy city how do you find a quiet place to take one, and how do you fall asleep quickly? A storefront operation with something like tanning booths may be the answer. Using brain wave entrainment CDs, sleep would come easily and quickly.
2. Can mosquito blood be used to solve a crime? The idea may be more suited to fiction than real police work, but it is logical. A suspect says...

Riddle Solution: None are honest. (For the 3rd to be honest would mean the second and third are honest, which contradicts what the second said. Therefore they are both lying. If both are lying, there cannot be two that are honest, meaning the first is also lying.)
